Devotion: How do I thank the Lord?
I love the Lord, for he heard my voice (Psalm 116:1a).
The psalmist has turned to the Lord God for help and has been saved. How do they repay the Lord for all that they receive? As we read through the passage for today, and as the psalmist lists the various things they will do, it keeps coming across as not enough – as though they realise that their praise, offerings, obedience and service all pale in comparison to all that the Lord has done for them.
While in its original context, this psalm may have been used for the nation of Israel to celebrate the Passover, Martin Luther saw it more as the Christian’s response to the work of our Redeemer – Jesus Christ. We cannot and could not save ourselves from our sins. We were dead, and he gave us life. Our response is that we sing praises to Jesus; we want to follow him and obey his commands; we want to tell others about Jesus; we want to be more like him. However, how is this enough? Our Lord did not save us so we could pay him back – any more than God saved the psalmist expecting an equitable return.
How great is our God! How deep is our Saviour’s love! As we slowly come to understand how great the grace of God is, our hearts burst forth with praise and thanks. Perhaps this psalm could be your prayer of thanks today?
Merciful and loving Father, I cannot begin to comprehend how much you have done and continue to do for me. May my ears be opened to the Holy Spirit as he continuously reveals your amazing grace and continues to point me to my Lord and Saviour, nailed to a tree. Praise the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Amen.

ONLINE SAFETY
Child safety is one of the school’s highest priorities and obligations. There are many strategies the school has implemented to ensure the physical and emotional safety of our students. One of the strategies used is to educate students about safe online etiquette. The students are taught from a young age about the importance of keeping private information confidential and not posting information on forums that they visit online.
As parents, you play a vital role in keeping your children safe when they are online. Here are some practical ways parents can assist their students:
- Closely monitor your children when they are online. Keep screens and devices where you can see them. DO NOT allow your child to use devices unsupervised.
- Talk openly with your child about their online activity, ensuring you are both aware of and educated about online dangers.
- Be aware of the websites that they visit and how to use parental controls to restrict access to inappropriate material.
- DO NOT ALLOW your child to create or own any social media accounts. This includes TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, YouTube and Twitter. Children under the age of 13 should not have social media accounts!
- If you find any material online that you believe is prohibited or inappropriate, contact the eSafety Hotline at https://www.esafety.gov.au/report/illegal-harmful-content.
What we are Learning
Prep/ 1
In the Prep/1 classroom we are learning about o’clock and half past time.
When you see the clock at these times, you could ask us – “What is the time?”
Year 1/2
In the Year 1/2 classroom we are learning about 2- and 3-dimensional shapes and their features: faces, edges and corners of an object.
You can help us by talking about the features of a box or any object at home.
Year 3/4
In the Year 3/4 classroom we have finished our focus novel, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
We had a snow party to celebrate one of the themes of the book!
Year 5/6
In the Year 5/6 classroom we have been learning about the author and artist Eric Carle.
