Devotion - The roar of the crowd
Jesus looked at his disciples and said
‘Happy are you poor; the Kingdom of God is yours! Happy are you who are hungry now; you will be filled! Happy are you who weep now; you will laugh!
Happy are you when people hate you, reject you, insult you and say that you are evil, all because you are the Son of Man! Be glad when that happens and dance for joy, because a great reward is kept for you in heaven. For their ancestors did the very same things to the prophets.’ Luke 6: 20 - 23
Some of the great heroes for God had miserable lives by our standards. One person who stands out is Mother Teresa. Yet she remained cheerful and thought only of helping those who led a far more miserable life than she.
There are many other people in the world who are in a similar situation. They suffer great hardships for the sake of the gospel. Many are even persecuted, put in prison, or hunted like criminals.
Jesus knows what people are going through when they suffer for his sake. He told his disciples to be happy when things were against them, because their reward would come in heaven.
We also can take comfort in the promises of God, and we can be happy when we are ridiculed for being a Christian, because our reward is waiting for us too.
Dear God, remember and be with all those who suffer because of their love for you. Help them to find strength and courage in your promise of their reward in heaven. Amen.

We welcome back all our families and extend a very warm welcome to our new families: the Khi Thie, Topae, Bawihung, Danh, Sang and Tran families. We wish Irynas, Ma Thlieh, Laura, Va Ngia, Theophilus, Johnny, Evan and Mona every blessing as they begin their journey at Sunshine Christian School.
This week 16 new Preps began their school journey. It has been very pleasing to see how the Preps have settled in to school and how the other students have cared for them in such a genuine fashion. We are looking forward to watching them grow and learn over the years ahead. Blessings to Kingston, Hayley, Kenny, Zin, Yah Sang, Jeremiah, Eirin, Marco, Deborah, Daisy, Paw Chai and Esther.
We also welcome Ms Clarke (Deputy Principal, 5/6 class teacher and Art teacher) back from maternity leave. We are thrilled to have her rejoin us and look forward to the wisdom and leadership she brings to our community.
What we are Learning
Prep/ Year 1
In the Prep/1 classroom we have been looking at the numbers to 10. You can help us practise writing numbers and making ‘friends of 10’
Year 2/3
In the Year 2/3 classroom the students have been focusing on words that contain the letter ‘X’ which is a diphone. We use THRASS strategies to sound the letters. Ask your child to explain what a diphone is. Together you can play a game finding words with this letter.
Year 3/4
In the Year 3/4 classroom we have been learning about place value. We have been learning how to rename and regroup numbers. Give us a number and we will tell you its place value!
Year 5/6
In the Year 5/6 classroom we have started our book study on ‘Hatchet’. We have read the first two chapters already! Ask us what it is about!
