On August 10 and September 4, the Years 5 and 6 students participated in Webinars run by Werribee Zoo in collaboration with Brimbank City Council. They were part of a program called ‘Love Your Locals’ aimed at educating students about some of the native species that are critically endangered. The three species that were focused on for the program are endemic to the Western Plains Grasslands and are either extinct, or in very small and unsustainable populations, due to urbanization, introduced species and loss of habitat.

After learning about these animals and how we can help to save them from extinction, the students were challenged to create a poster, video or song to raise awareness about one of the animals and educate people on how they can help.
